Music
Soothing savage beasts and others for over 40 years.
When I’m not writing books about musicians, I like to try to be one. Since I predate the Disco Era, so does most of what I play. Among my most popular incarnations are seven musical programs created around themes including winter holidays, St. Patrick’s/Celtic, July 4th/Americana, World War II era, Mother’s Day, Valentines Day/love and our life cycle. I also perform sets of audience-friendly material from the past 150 years, including
my own songs. While my solo performances are guitar-centric with some mandolin
and drums thrown in, I also play lots of different percussion instruments on an
occasional basis with other bands.
I also write and perform plenty of my my own material as a singer-songwriter. My first CD of originals, Better Late Than Never, was released in 2014. Soon I’ll be following it up with an old fashioned double album. You can hear some of my material at this link: https://soundcloud.com/duggleby

Hey John, It’s Ryan from Sylvan Crossings. I was checking to see if have you still had any openings on the 4th of July. To entertain the seniors at my Facility. Also wondering about the cost of a hour program. Thanks Ryan
Hi John,
I am looking to book entertainment for Oak Park Place in Madison for the fall. I would like to discuss your different programs, so please email or give me a call at 608-395-2494.
Thanks!
Katie
Hi Katie! I’d love to perform at Oak Place, I’ve played before at your Baraboo location. I e-mailed you some information, and I hope I can entertain your residents soon! John
Hello John, I realize this is last minute, but looking for entertainment for our seniors and youth at our Summerfest July 17th. We, Northwest Dane Senior Services, are located in Black Earth, just 20 minutes from Middleton.
I am looking for entertainment for the seniors group at our church for the fall. We also have an annual Chicken Roast every August that might be a good fit for your singing chicken act. I would like to discuss your different programs, so please email me Also wondering about the cost per hour.
Hi Scott,
I’m sorry, but for some reason your note JUST showed up on my website. I’d be happy to come and perform the “singing chicken” show or any of my nine programs designed especially for seniors. Cost depends on your location, let me know more about the venue and I’ll give you some particulars.
Hope we can meet someday!

Hey John,
I’m a 40 musician veteran of mostly past time practice. Guitar, drums, congas, bass, etc… I am considering purchasing some remo versa drums to possibly get started in business working at Heath Care Centers in California for elderly. Can you please give me some tips on how to get started at that part time? I am retired as well. Please email me at: miguelon56@comcast.net. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you,
Michael
That’s a pretty big subject for here, but there’s a lot of online information on doing drum circles for seniors on YouTube, including a video of mine (look under my name). Once you’ve put together a program, start contacting senior places. You may have to some freebies for awhile for your name to get around and to refine your program. Good luck!
