Chicken Dance

Chicken Dance University

Where I come from, the chicken dance is a childhood rite of passage, and a must-know for attending wedding receptions, skating parties and many other important social events.  It is also one of the intreractive highlights of my Grant Wood author program.  With these instructions and virtually no practice, you’ll look like you’ve been an Upper Midwesterner all your life.  Lucky you.

  1. Beak: Hold your hands up in the shape of bird heads as shown.  Open and close your fingers and thumbs to make your chickens “cluck.” Do this four times.
  2. Wings: Bring your fists against your chest to create chicken wings.  Flap them four times.
  3. Tail Feathers: This move separates the fair from the fowl- so to speak.  With your wings still in position, bend your knees and shake your “tail”- with gusto- four times.
  4. Hand Clap: Just what it says: four claps to celebrate your newfound chicken dancing savvy.  You’ll be laying eggs before you know it!
  5. Video Demo:
